To hook up a device

The following are the generic steps followed to hookup a device using the (Device Hookup) tool:

  1. Determine the Type of connection.

    Rigid

    or

    Flexible

  2. Enter a value to limit the amount of flex (if the connection type is flexible).
  3. Set the desired Connection Angle from the set of standard angles.
Tip: The default standard angles are: 30, 45, 60 or 90. However, you can set user defined angle values by editing the AutoFittingOptions settings file.
  4. Set the Transition Tolerance —the allowable distance for transition between two devices offset in different planes.
  5. Set the Invert Path option if want to connect to other side of the device in the hookup.
  6. Turn on Stretch Ducts/Pipes if the connecting device should extend to meet the angle path without adding another piece of duct or pipe and couplings.
  7. (Optional) For fence and selection sets, create a connected components selection set.
  8. Set the Minimum Length option

Default – minimum length value as seen in element info.

    or

From AutoFitting option – minimum length value of current instance set through right click AutoFitting option.

    or

Manual – to allow keying minimum length value to fit within the available space.

  9. Select the component to connect, then select the connect to component.

A path displays allowing you to position the elements along the run.

  10. (Optional) If required, manipulate the angle setting to keep the hooked up assembly within minimum path.
  11. Click in the view to accept.

The elements are created with elbows of the selected angle.
